See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! 1 John 3:1a NIV

Father’s Day is one of those holidays that can illicit strong emotions in all of us. For some, the day will bring joy as they honor their dad and celebrate his love and devotion. Others will replay fond memories of earlier days with their dad but will experience the pain and grief that comes with losing a loved one. Anger and bitterness may grip the hearts of those who never experienced the love of an earthly dad but know all too well the pain of abuse and neglect. And, in our broken world, there are those who’s hearts will ache with the vivid reminder of having grown up with an absentee father. Whatever group you fall into today, you have a good reason to celebrate Father’s Day. You have a Father in heaven who loves you immensely!

For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God. Romans 8:15-16 NASB

And, “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.” 2 Corinthians 6:18 NIV

A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. Psalm 68:5 NIV

God made the ultimate sacrifice to adopt you into His family! You are the apple of His eye, valuable in His sight and He cherishes His relationship with you. He has given you all the privileges and rights that come with being His son or His daughter. You share in His riches, benefit from His authority, and can relax in His protection. You will always have everything you need and your inheritance is secure! He is always there for you and wants you to enjoy the intimacy that comes from a close relationship with Him as your Father. He wants to be the one you turn to in the good times and the bad, the one you share with when life brings you joy and the shoulder you cry on when life brings you pain.

Celebrate Father’s Day with a focus on your Heavenly Father and let Him know how much He means to you!
