Strong Tower

tower

The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous runs into it and is safe. Proverbs 18:10 NASB

I love the imagery this verse brings to my mind. To describe the righteous before they reach the tower I’d have to use words such as: Exhaustion, Fear, Desperation, Battle, and Danger. But then they reach the tower and everything changes! Exhaustion turns into Rest! Fear is replaced with Relief! Desperation becomes Hope! The Battle is over and there is Peace! Danger has passed and all is Secure!  Isn’t it great to know that when the pressure is on you can run to God! Like a tower rising above the landscape God is easy to find. Just look up and run in His direction!

For You have been a refuge for me, A tower of strength against the enemy. Psalm 61:3 NASB

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust!” Psalm 91:1-2 NASB

But the LORD has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge. Psalm 94:22 NIV

The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Psalm 9:9 NIV

The salvation of the righteous comes from the LORD; he is their stronghold in time of trouble. Psalm 37:39 NIV
