Are You Satisfied With Life?

And the LORD will continually guide you, And satisfy your desire in scorched places, And give strength to your bones; And you will be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail. Isaiah 58:11 NASB

We live in a land of scorched places; where people are thirsty for satisfaction but can’t seem to find it. We think we’ll find what we’re looking for in this world, in better relationships, more money, or more prominence. But even when we manage to obtain the things we think will bring us joy, we find them to be empty. You see real satisfaction, contentment and joy come from God. He is the only one who can fill the void in your life.

You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water. Psalm 63:1 NIV

As king, David had the best this world could offer right at his finger tips. Power, riches, servants, women, anything David desired was at his disposal. Even with all this, David earnestly sought the Lord. He longed for God because he knew that nothing else would satisfy the thirst within his soul. He goes on to say in this psalm, “Your love is better than life.” (Psalm 63:3 NIV) and “You satisfy me more than the richest feast.” (Psalm 63:5 NLT) How about you, have you come to that realization or are you still trying to find contentment in the things of this world?

“But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”  John 4:14 NASB
