I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? Psalm 121:1 NIV

There are times when life is an uphill battle, when the challenges we face are difficult and overwhelming. Like huge mountains looming in front of us, our problems are all we can see. There’s simply no way to look past them. We search for answers and wonder where our help will come from. Can you relate to this psalm?

My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 121:2 NIV

God is the answer, only He can give you the help you need! He is higher than the mountains that you face. Look above the difficulty and cry out to the Maker of heaven and earth.

Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain. Isaiah 40:4 ESV

I will go before you and will level the mountains. Isaiah 45:2a NIV

“Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20b NIV

He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. Psalm 121:3-4 NIV

Mountain climbing can be dangerous, it can be hard to get your footing. But no matter how steep the climb, if you are walking with God, He is well able to keep you from falling!

He will guard the feet of his faithful ones, but the wicked shall be cut off in darkness, for not by might shall a man prevail. 1 Samual 2:9 ESV

The Lord watches over you— the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. Psalm 121:5-6 NIV

Are you tired of the heat? God will be your shade when the pressure is on!

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:1 NIV

For You have been a defense for the helpless, a defense for the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat; for the breath of the ruthless is like a rain storm against a wall. Isaiah 25:4 NASB

The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. Psalm 121:7-8 NIV

If you are facing some steep mountains today, know that God is well able to help you. He is not asleep, He is fully aware of your struggle. Call to Him and He will answer.

Let’s look once more at this Psalm in its entirety.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you— the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
