Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.

    Worship the Lord with gladness;

    come before him with joyful songs.

Know that the Lord is God.

    It is he who made us, and we are his;

    we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving

    and his courts with praise;

    give thanks to him and praise his name.

For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;

    his faithfulness continues through all generations.  Psalm 100 NIV

This is a great psalm to think about during the Thanksgiving season. Let’s consider 4 simple ideas as we contemplate Psalm 100:

  1. If you want more joy in your life, spend more time in the presence of God. There is a direct correlation between the amount of time we spend in worship and the amount of joy we experience.
  2. God made you and He watches over your life like a shepherd tending sheep. When you go astray, He calls you back. When you get caught in a trap, He gently sets you free. When you are hungry, He feeds you. When you are sick, He gives you what you need to be strong and healthy again. He is fully engaged and involved in your life. He loves you!
  3. He invites you into His presence, but expects you to come with a grateful heart, and an expression of praise. He is more than worthy!
  4. You can depend on His love! He offers it to you freely. He is and will always be everything you need and desire! People may let you down, but God is faithful!
