Stay On Course

Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV

Stand firm, let nothing move you! Once you’ve made up your mind to serve the Lord and to live your life in a manner that is pleasing to Him, Satan will do everything he can to move you in the wrong direction. God encourages us, through this passage, to stand firm, to stay the course!

I think The Message says it best in its paraphrase of the opening verses of Psalm 119.

You’re blessed when you stay on course, walking steadily on the road revealed by God.
You’re blessed when you follow his directions, doing your best to find him.
That’s right—you don’t go off on your own; you walk straight along the road he set.
You, God, prescribed the right way to live; now you expect us to live it.
Oh, that my steps might be steady, keeping to the course you set;
Then I’d never have any regrets in comparing my life with your counsel. Psalm 119:1-6 MSG

Sometimes God reveals the road He wants us to walk just one step at a time, and that’s okay, because life’s not a sprint to the finish line. Enjoy the journey, walking with the Lord by your side. Give yourself fully to the work of the Lord, wherever that may lead you. Avoid all detours, no matter how appealing Satan makes them seem at the time, and in the end, you will have no regrets. Instead, you will be able to say, like the Apostle Paul:

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7 NASB
