Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham’s descendants. For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. Hebrews 2:14-17 NIV
Why did Jesus lay aside his Godly nature and enter humanity? So that He could free us from our fear of death by making atonement for our sins. There is no need to fear death once your sins have been atoned for and you are in right standing with God. For the believer, death is not the end, it’s a wonderful beginning!
Just as everyone dies because we all belong to Adam, everyone who belongs to Christ will be given new life. 1 Corinthians 15:22 NLT
Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die, this Scripture will be fulfilled: “Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” 1 Corinthians 15:54-55 NLT
But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:57 NLT
Jesus brings us hope! When our lives come to an end, we will leave this life victorious. Though our family and friends will mourn our loss, we will experience no sting in death. We will no longer suffer pain, sickness, sadness or heartache of any kind! We will be healthy and strong in the presence of our Lord, grateful that He entered our world and came to our rescue!
