Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. Ecclesiastes 4:12 NIV
One glance at the picture above and it’s easy to see the difference in the strength of a rope that’s braided as opposed to a single strand. One single strand of cord breaks rather easily, but when weaved together into a thick rope it can withstand far more weight and pressure. The same is true in spiritual warfare. Satan is a formidable enemy but when we battle together, we are not easily defeated. We find strength in each other! That’s why God designed His church to operate as a body.
I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one. John 17:11 NIV
When Jesus asked the Father to protect us He prayed that we would be one, even as He was one with the Father. He understood that we are safer from the attack of the enemy when we unite together and operate as one. Isn’t that far more enjoyable anyway? If you are battling an attack from the enemy today, don’t battle alone. Call on a brother or sister in Christ, who you can trust, and share with them your struggle. Let them pray for and with you. Let them encourage you in the Word of God, hold you accountable and stand by you.
Of course, Satan will do all in his power to keep you from making that call. Don’t believe his lies. Don’t let guilt, shame, embarrassment or pride force you into isolation. Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
I love this lesson…it is so true. It takes corage to share with even your closest friend something that may cause embarrassment, shame or guilt, but once you do you feel a whole lot stronger for doing so. You may not like what they tell you but you can pray together for the answers and the strength to get through whatever it is.
