No matter how many times we fail, God never gives up on us! Why do we have so much trouble believing that? Maybe it’s because we give up on ourselves. Maybe it’s because we give up on each other. We tend to focus on our mistakes and on the shortcomings of others, whereas God focuses on our potential. He chooses to see past our sins, and looks instead at what we will become when we surrender and walk in obedience to Him.
We are intimately acquainted with all our sins. We know how many times we have promised to change only to fail once again. If we listen to the enemy we are quick to give up, to wallow in the familiar pain of failure. On some level we find that easier than humbling ourselves and starting the painful process of repentance and change….yet again. But take heart, the psalmist tells us that God is ready to forgive! Even if you’ve blown it time and time again, God is not just willing to forgive you, He is eager to help you break out of the cycle of sin! He loves you, even when you don’t feel lovable! Call upon Him! Don’t buy into the lie of the enemy that you are no longer worthy, that’s not what the Bible says.
Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. Lamentations 3:21-23 NLT
