When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. “Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?” the servant asked. “Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. 2 Kings 6:15-17 NASB
If all you see is the attack of the enemy, you will be overcome with fear and anxiety. But if you focus instead on God’s power to deliver you and remember that He is so much greater than the enemy, you will learn to stand firm in the face of attack. The servant only saw the enemy army surrounding him, but Elisha saw beyond that. He saw the armies of God that were there to support him in the battle. And there was no comparison. There’s never a comparison. The armies of God that stand to defend you are far more than the armies of Satan that fight against you!
You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. 1 John 4:4 NIV
What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31 NIV
A slingshot and stone from God will prevail over great armies!
