Is there anything more valuable than peace of mind? Let’s be honest, we can have all the money in the world, but if we lack peace, we will be miserable! Jesus wanted us to know that there is a clear difference in the peace He gives and the peace the world offers. I imagine the disciples, like many of us, had already experienced what the world had to offer and had found it to be lacking. So Jesus reassures them, and us, that His peace will quiet our troubled hearts and take away our fear.
God’s peace guards our hearts and minds. (Philippians 4:7) It’s like a warrior rising up to defend us and defeat any thought that would rob us of joy, fill us with fear or divert our attention away from our God. When Jesus, the prince of peace, steps in and steadies our hearts and minds we can breathe again, we can rest in Him and our hope is restored. Nothing the world offers can do that for us!
