Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel, for which I am suffering even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But God’s word is not chained. 2 Timothy 2:8-9 NIV
Paul penned these words while sitting in prison, awaiting execution for his refusal to stop preaching the gospel message. What is the essence of this message Paul was so passionate about? It’s all about Jesus!
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. Isaiah 53:5 NIV
Yes, He loves you that much!
When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. Romans 5:6-10 NLT
The message worth dying for was the road map we all need to find forgiveness and favor with God! Jesus came and died so that you and I could know God and gain eternal life with Him; that’s the good news Paul decided was worth dying for! He took great encouragement in knowing that the authorities could silence him, but they could not silence the gospel message. Throughout time, many worldly leaders have banned and attempted to snuff out the Bible, but God has and will always ensure it’s survival.
So wherever you are in life’s journey, remember Jesus. Make Him the central focus of your life and give Him all your attention! God has made sure that you have an opportunity to dig into His word, apply it’s truth to your life and enjoy all the benefits of knowing Him!
