I No Longer Live But Christ Lives In Me

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20 NIV

As we approach Easter and focus on the cross I am challenged to consider Paul’s declaration in this verse. What does it mean to be crucified with Christ, to no longer live? Paul was very much alive when he penned these words, but much like being born again has nothing to do with returning to our mothers’ womb, dying to ourselves has nothing to do with beating hearts or breathing lungs, but has everything to do with surrender and control.

With Good Friday just 4 days away, we fall short if we focus on the cross but fail to come to terms with Galatians 2:20. Of course, the gospel message centers around the shed blood of Christ, for without it, we have no hope of reconciliation with God, but good news goes far beyond the cross!

I ran across this presentation of the gospel a few years ago, and though I know nothing about Eric Ludy or The Ellerslie Mission Society, I am challenged to my core every time I hear it! I encourage you to take a few minutes and listen to it as you start this Easter week and contemplate what Galatians 2:20 means to you.
