“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun. It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, like a champion rejoicing to run his course. It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth.” Psalm 19:1-6 NIV
All creation points to our amazing God! Its beauty reflects the majesty of our Creator. We live our lives, they after day, rising up each morning and resting each night, with complete confidence that the sun will rise just as it has from the beginning of time. Whether we acknowledge Him or not, we rest at night, with a peace in our hearts, trusting Him to hold our world together.
“The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” Colossians 1:15-17 NIV
The truth is, we are dependent upon Jesus for everything, even our very next breath. Our lives are held in His hands. We live because He gives us life. The sun rose again this morning simply because He decided it should. The humble baby we celebrate in the manger, is the same all powerful God who made everything in heaven and on earth!
“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” Romans 1:20 NIV
God is not hiding who He is! He puts His invisible qualities, eternal power and divine nature on display every day, as the sun rises and takes it’s place in the sky, providing us with warmth and light. You can see His handiwork on a dark night, when you gaze up at stars. He reminds you of His presence as you enjoy the beauty of a passing butterfly, smell a bouquet of roses or hear the birds singing in trees.
Just look in a mirror, for you too are the handiwork of God. And the good news is, your Creator cherishes you! He personally designed you and He loves you! He wants you to know Him on a deeper level. Ask Him to reveal Himself to you personally and He will.
“‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’” Jeremiah 33:3 NIV
The creation IS the most visible evidence of the transcendence of God. In some ways, it leads the trinity of witnesses, Word and Spirit are wonderful yet not tangible.
This is not heresy, but reality.
Humankind has always related to the “heavens”, usually much more than we realize.
Oh that we might join the “heavenly chorus” adding words to them, to give Him all praise and honor and glory, thru’ Jesus Christ!
Amen!
