“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 NIV
Praise our Lord and God! He holds all the answers. He knows what we are up against and, not only warns us, but also comforts us. The Bible tells us Satan currently rules this world, and his sole desire is to separate us from the Lord. So as trials hit us each day, he looks for every opportunity to take our eyes off of Jesus. But we must stand firm!
Jesus tells us:
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? Matthew 6:25-27 NIV
Peter writes:
Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8 NIV
Jesus says:
“I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me, but he comes so that the world may learn that I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded me.” John 14:30-31 NIV
Jesus tells us that we will struggle; we will face the trials and consequences of our actions in this world. He also gives us the bottom line: He is in control! We are safe in him, so don’t worry. We are in him and he has conquered the world!
He also tells us:
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27 NIV
We are consistently told in scripture not to fear, and not to worry. We are told not to be anxious about anything.
These quotes above, recorded by John, were words Jesus spoke to encourage us on the very night he was to be arrested and begin his journey to the cross for us! These were some of his thoughts on worry, and fear. Even as he was about to be condemned for us, to suffer for us, he wanted to encourage us. He always sets the example, Praise Him!
I often feel that one of the benefits of gravity, and one of the reasons it is one of God’s greatest creations is this: It makes it easy for us to fall… to our knees.
Love one another!

Special thanks for this guest submission by Barnabas.
Great reminder to stay alert, know He is in control, and above all things love one another. In doing that we are keeping our eyes on Him!
