“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Revelation 21:4 NIV
The Lord doesn’t promise a “pain free life.” It’s our that faith drives our ability to ebb and flow with life’s battles. Whether it be physical, mental or spiritual, everyone has their share of painful events and heartache. He warned us, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 NIV Jesus is certainly familiar with all of these types of painful events. We are saved as a result of His passion for us.
The Lord allows things to happen in our lives for our benefit. He uses painful circumstances to help us fulfill His purpose and plan for us. Part of what leads us to distress is our reliance on people or things in this world. But He is always with us, when we are going through painful times. He reminds us that this world will not only present trouble, but that everything in it, at some point, will let us down. HE is the only one who will never fail us!
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6 NIV
He also reminds us that:
“A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me.” John 16:32 NIV
When in the throws of a painful experience, listen carefully and hear the Lord’s soft gentile voice remind you, “If you look to me, and serve me, I will bare that pain for you.”
Take it away? Yes!
Most assuredly, He will take that pain FOR YOU.
Because he Loves us, He is willing to take our pain upon himself.
Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. Isaiah 53:4 NIV
