“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” Matthew 7:13-14 NIV
This is not meant to discourage us. Though the road may be narrow, the ground we walk on is solid! While we experience doubts and fears along the way, we have Jesus to guide us to the Father.
They all ate the same spiritual food and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ. 1 Corinthians 10:4 NI
The Rock was Jesus. He is the way to the Father.
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 NIV
God does not make the road too narrow. Why? Because He gives us solid footing in Christ Jesus to walk along it. He is the Rock on which we stand.
“There is no one holy like the Lord; there is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God. 1 Samuel 2 NIV
God put one parameter in place, which will ensure we arrive at our desired destination.
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9 NIV
Yes, the road is narrow. Yes, the ground is solid. Our Lord not only provides the way, He is THE WAY.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23 NIV
Too often we forget the second part of this verse; the focus is NOT death, rather Christ, who is our eternal life. He will always remind us of the downside of not walking with Him, but will follow right behind it with the hope we have in Him!
Remember that it is written:
After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. John 17:1-3 NIV
The narrow road leads to eternal life, and the ground in Christ is solid.
