Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings. 1 Peter 5:8-9 NIV
Jesus does not pull any punches when it comes to the enemy. He’s very clear on how we should avoid him and why.
He says:
“You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” John 8:44 NIV
It doesn’t matter how clever or smart we are or even how committed we are, the enemy will always gain a foothold when we let go of the truth and embrace his lies. Jesus warned us about this to save us from the pain and anguish the enemy wants to put us through.
He is so sure he says ;
“My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it.” John 17:15-16 NIV
Jesus asks God to protect us from this “evil one” . He understands how important and how difficult it is to resist the devil’s schemes so he prays for us!
Stay in the word , stay in your walk.

Special thanks to Barnabas for this guest submission.
Yes, constant prayer for protection, we live in a wicked world, but HE has overcome! His word can quench the fiery darts of the enemy, we need to proclaim outloud, and stand firm. Amen
