The Initial Promise

“And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.” Genesis‬ ‭3‬:‭15‬ ‭NIV
‬‬

In the beginning, once man fell into sin, God made this promise. While many of us remember this promise, it is not often referenced. Behold, this is His first and greatest promise, telling of our coming Savior! At this point, God could’ve chosen to give up on man and his creation altogether. Instead He promised the Messiah, our Lord Jesus.  Praise the Lord!

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. Isaiah‬ ‭7‬:‭14‬ ‭NIV‬‬

God certainly wasn’t keeping His promise a secret. Why? Because of His great love for us!

Got always keeps His promises!

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them. And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Luke‬ ‭2‬:‭4‬-‭12‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Just as God had promised, our Lord Jesus was born! As promised throughout our Bible, Christ chose to give up His own life to defeat death for all of us who will believe in Him!

Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.” A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. John‬ ‭19‬:‭28‬-‭30‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Then another promise!

““Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God ; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” John‬ ‭14‬:‭1‬-‭4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

He will return!

“Look, I am coming soon! Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy written in this scroll.”Revelation‬ ‭22‬:‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

What wonderful promises of God! Christ was promised, He came, He defeated the enemy and death, and He promises return! One day, we will all live with Him in eternity.

Love one another, always.
