Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 5:15-20 NIV
What are we supposed to be doing with our time? Is it being spent wisely? Exactly how should our time be spent, when we know we are created for a purpose?
Let’s examine what our Lord says:
“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10 NKJV
Such encouragement from our Lord! We too are meant to be encouragers. Spending our time encouraging others glorifies God!
Sow righteousness for yourselves, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the Lord, until he comes and showers his righteousness on you. Hosea 10:12 NIV
Planting seeds of righteousness glorifies God too!
If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:11 NIV
Serving others is time well spent!
How can we be sure we are not going to live a life of regret?Encourage, Plant, and Serve!
Encourage others always. Plant the seed of the word at every opportunity. Serve God by serving others This is great recipe for life and will keep us from looking back on our lives at the end and regretfully uttering, “So much wasted time!”
Our job here on earth is to glorify God! It’s that simple.
How do we know ?
After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.” John 17:1-5 NIV
Jesus always sets the example. It is clear in his prayer, on the night that he was arrested, that his mission and desire was to glorify God!
Encourage, plant and serve every day!
May none of us ever look back and utter, “So much wasted time.”
Love one another.
