What’s Your Goal?

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. John‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The first part of any good business model is establishing an overall goal.  Dictionary.com defines goal this way: “The result or achievement toward which effort is directed.” When applied to our Christian lifestyle what is our goal?  Eternal life with God!

It is written:

After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. John‬ ‭17‬:‭1‬-‭3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

While there may be many objectives, there is only one goal- to spend eternity with our Lord and God, Christ Jesus!

This is pointed out so many times in scripture. Let’s examine a few.

It is so important that Peter’s writes:

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter‬ ‭3‬:‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

God, as our creator, leads us to where he wants us to be!

John writes:

I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. 1 John‬ ‭5‬:‭13‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Paul writes:

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans‬ ‭6‬:‭23‬ ‭NIV‬‬

For a plan to be successful mutual goals between two parties have to be aligned! Hope of eternal life aligns our goal with His!

Jesus prayed:

“Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.” John‬ ‭17‬:‭24‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Eternal life! God wants it for us, and we accepted this free gift when we accepted Christ!

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 1 John‬ ‭5‬:‭11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Love one another.
