He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed. 1 Peter 2:24 NLT
Jesus completely understands the weight of sin, far better than you and I ever will. He knows the pain our sin brings to the Father, because He and the Father are one. And He knows the pain sin brings to us, because He emptied Himself, became a man and carried our sin in His own body on the cross. With every crushing blow, He felt the overwhelming pain of sin, not His own, but yours and mine.
Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins! But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed. Isaiah 53:4-5 NLT
He could have called ten thousand angels to rescue Him that day, but He stayed on the cross and endured the pain so we could be free. He looked ahead and saw our weakness. He knew we wouldn’t be strong enough to bear the weight of our own sin so He carried it for us.
You never need to wonder if God understands your pain. He allowed your sorrows to weigh Him down. We are rebellious, so He let the nails pierce His hands and feet. Our sin has the power to crush us, but He decided it should crush Him instead. We deserve to be broken, but He took the beatings, so we could be whole. We turn our back on Him again and again, yet He was whipped so we could be healed. No one will ever love you more than Jesus!
