Be Still

“Be still, and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10a ESV

We usually think of successful people as go getters, men of action, and while this may often bring success in other areas of life, like business, in our spiritual walk it takes stillness to know God. Not complacency but quiet, intentional, focused time in His presence. Stillness isn’t inactivity but rather setting aside every other activity except our active pursuit of God, to connect with Him on a personal level. Stillness doesn’t come easy. It’s far easier to run in a hundred directions “serving” God, but stopping everything to sit in His presence, to contemplate His Word, to pray and to listen for His voice…that’s hard work, but that’s what it takes to know Him.
