Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9 NIV
God offers each of us these words of encouragement. Life is full of battles, and while God originally emboldened Joshua with these words, he makes the same promise to you and I.
Consider these words, spoken by our Lord:
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. John 3:16-17 NIV
God is a great Father! His love for us cannot be measured, and his commitment to us cannot be matched by anyone here on earth. His protection over us is, and always will be, beyond comparison.
What are his requirements? Simply accept his Son, Jesus, as your Lord and believe with all your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead. He repeatedly asks us to seek him, to not be afraid, to call upon him, and he will answer!
It is written:
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7 NIV
God owes us nothing, yet his mercies are new every day. He does not play favorites, he loves us all equally. He is just, kind, and righteous. There are none more powerful than HE, yet he loves us as his little children. We have a great Father in God, and no one better to walk with daily. He is the great Shepherd. We need his rod and staff to comfort us, and to lead us down the straight path, so we never wander to the right or left!
May we look to him today and say:
Search me, God, and know my heart, test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalm 139:23-24 NIV
