Protect Me From That Which Means Me Harm

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5:8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We live in a world that is ruled by the enemy. The Lord, for His purposes, allows him to be the “prince “ of this world.

For Jesus said:

“I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me,” John‬ ‭14:30‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We are constantly under attack, while in this world. We are attacked by the enemy, the flesh, and the world itself. These attacks are real, and often leave us shaken.

But don’t lose heart, for it is written:

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.” John‬ ‭14:1‬ ‭NIV‬‬

As Christians,  our common enemy will launch attack after attack on us.  It’s like a vast army who keeps coming at us in waves.

The psalmist reminds us:

All day long they twist my words; all their schemes are for my ruin. They conspire, they lurk, they watch my steps, hoping to take my life. Psalms‬ ‭56:5-6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Yes, this attack is real. Yet, God will protect us when we call out to Him, when we follow Him, and cry out His name.

The psalmist tells us:

The Lord lives! Praise be to my Rock! Exalted be God my Savior! He is the God who avenges me, who subdues nations under me, who saves me from my enemies. You exalted me above my foes; from a violent man you rescued me.  Psalms‬ ‭18:46-48‬ ‭NIV‬‬

He reminds us of His love for us, and His desire to come to our rescue when He says:

“They will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord. Jeremiah‬ ‭1:19‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We need to look to God for cover, for His promises will be our protection. A simple prayer might be, “Lord make me invisible to my enemies, protect me from that which means me harm!”

It’s simple enough to garner His attention. He will come to us, without haste, to rescue us!

Remember to love and encouraged one another.
