The Amazing Love Of God

He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners. Isaiah 61:1b NIV

Each of us, no matter how hard we try, is to some degree broken. We try, but our human nature is to struggle even unknowingly at times. We know who we are, so he most assuredly does. Regardless, he loves us. He understands us, and when asked, he forgives us. For my part, it is this willingness to forgive me, despite the reasons I’m sure I should not be, that draws me to him, especially when my heart leads me in a direction it most assuredly should not go. I can later look back and see how, even through my weakness, he uses it for good. Many times it is those around us, who we very much love, who are the beneficiaries. Praise him!

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,  fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2 NIV

Gods true nature is to love us, to let us know when we are doing things outside his will, to chastise us out of love, and to restore us when we turn back to him. Every one of us, regardless of what we think or feel, has sinned against God knowingly or unknowingly. We need to continue to seek him out for the answers and turn away from darkness and back to his light. And when we do, we will be met with mercy and love.

For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more. Hebrews 8:12 NIV

  1. Amen: so be it!
Or in modern terms, you nailed it.
When we understand the fullness of his love, shown in and by Christ, we are amazed.
We will need eternity to develop a real grasp of it.
