Remain Steadfast Through Troubled Times

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 NIV

This is what our Lord told all of those with him that fateful night he was arrested, and it still applies to all of us who believe in him today. The events going on around us are mere examples of these types of troubles. We must remember during these times, that God remains in control.

It is written:

But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry. 2 Timothy 4:5 NIV

When we look at the world, it appears that some seem to be rewarded, while others seem to continually suffer. Though many before us have suffered great hardships, no one is completely spared troubles.  And no one has ever suffered more than Our Lord for our atonement!

Let us remember one of the Apostle Paul’s final writings:

For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:6-8 NIV

At the core of what we believe remains all of HIS promises to us. These promises will be kept eternally.

It is best remembered, as troubles approach :

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31 NIV

In good times, and bad – Love one another.
