Listen And Hear Him

Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” Isaiah 30:21 NIV

If we listen, we will hear him.  God has a way of communicating with us through his word and through our daily prayers. Sometimes we simply need to listen. The LORD does not lay anything on our heart by accident. He loves us and he cares enough to guide us through our daily walk.

It is written:

In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps. Proverbs 16:9 NIV

Most importantly, we must listen for him.  We must remain still and listen for his whispers to our hearts. If we walk with him each day, he will lay on our hearts all we need to know. It doesn’t just “pop in there,” HE puts it there!

It is also written:

And he said to me, Son of man, listen carefully and take to heart all the words I speak to you. Ezekiel 3:10 NIV

God knows that we need him to guide us to avoid turning off the path he has for us.  So we must take time to speak to him, and  more time to listen for him.

James says:

“My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,” James 1:19 NIV

This is key.  If we bring something to God, in the name of Christ, he will lay his thoughts on our heart. How important are HIS thoughts?

David says:

“How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand— when I awake, I am still with you.” Psalms 139:17-18 NIV

Listen carefully for our Lord. He doesn’t ignore our prayers, and he doesn’t wish for us to flounder in darkness.

God himself says:

“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.” Psalms 91:14-15 NIV

He is God, and he wants his voice heard! It will be heard.

What is our Lord telling you?
