Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. James 1:12 NIV
We are living in trying times but we have a choice to seek the Lord for wisdom or succumb to fear.
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. James 1:5 NIV
The world has become a terribly frightening place, but our Lord says:
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God ; believe also in me.” John 14:1 NIV
Pandemics, politics, tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, and terrorism are only a few things causing fear and divide among both Christians and unbelievers alike.
It is written:
A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense. Proverbs 19:11 NIV
Wisdom seems to be key in keeping our eyes on God and walking his path for us, regardless of fear of any of the above. God has us. Just as Jesus was used by God for his purposes, so are we as believers. Choose to live with wisdom and never stop seeking our Lord. Reject fear and let the peace of God rule in your heart.
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 NIV
Live seeking his wisdom, and listen to what the psalmist says:
“The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalms 27:1 NIV
Consider how our Lord instructed Joshua:
Then the Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Take the whole army with you, and go up and attack Ai. For I have delivered into your hands the king of Ai, his people, his city and his land.” Joshua 8:1 NIV
If you need another reason to remain faithful and not be afraid, take to heart God’s word through John:
“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” 1 John 4:18 NIV
Finally, Jesus, on the night he was arrested, said this:
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27 NIV
Don’t let fear cripple you, seek his wisdom and do not be afraid.
