“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 NIV
Are any of us free from hardship? Can anyone say they have never had a time in their lives when they weren’t going through something?
I can comfortably assume the answer in no. We have all, at one time or another, gone through something that tried our very being.
It is written:
“Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you.” 1 Peter 4:12 NIV
We can all expect trials in this world. While the Lord assures us of it, he also gives us many ways to accept and to cope with trials when they come.
Paul writes:
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:4, 6 NIV
God loves us so much that he tells us what to do during difficult times. He wants us to work through our trials with him, and in him. This is the only way.
It is important to remember when we are going through something difficult, we are not stuck in it, rather we are moving through it and will eventually be out of it.
In all trials we must put our complete faith and trust in Him!
For it is written:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV
God is always with us. He knows we’ll have trouble, so he prepares us for it and gives us measures to get through it.
“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13 NIV
The answer to every trial is God. Our faith in Christ, and his unfailing love and grace, allows us to get through all the trouble we face in this world. The key is to go through it with him.
As our Lord reminds us, he is there with us always. For he says:
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 NIV
He will guide us through everything, and will not allow us to get stuck in anything. He will always pull us through when we remain with him, and in him!
Love one another!
